QoL and Rebalance patch (V1.3)


Hello, long time no see! 🌼🌹

I've released a somewhat significant patch for Flowerdrops. Most of the work for this update has been sitting on my harddrive for over a year, gathering dust! My original plan was to have this update out in September of last year, in time for the game's fourth birthday. My wife Skye began work on some music to replace some of the "stock" tracks that still remain in parts of the game. But then, life got in the way, and we missed not only Flowerdrops' fourth birthday, but its fifth as well. And, well, today I figured I might as well release what I have.

So, what's included?

  • Major QoL update! Flowers now have 'splash counters' that reveal how many times they need to be splashed with water to reach the fully grown state. This was a highly requested feature, and it required a lot of fine-tuning, but I'm so happy with the result! I may add the option to toggle these on/off, but personally, I can't imagine the game without this feature now.
  • Polish and rebalancing for nearly every level in the game.
    • Many levels are now slightly more challenging and have more flowers than before.
    • A small selection of levels have been completely redone from scratch, with new names. (For example: the level 'Quadrants' is a new level called 'Airlock')
    • Added new Decal elements to several levels.
  • Updated credits
  • Improved the flow of the first level's tutorial.

We still have plans for one final FINAL update... Skye still wants to finish up that music soon, and I still have yet more QoL tweaks and bits of polish I'd like to add before I will personally consider this game truly "complete." On top of that, I have planned a small amount of bonus content, but I'll leave that as a surprise for now.

Thanks once again to everyone who has enjoyed this game. I never expected much out of this project, so seeing that it has genuinely resonated with some people is truly special. 🥰
